Overview: Cadillac Mountain is a must-do for anyone visiting Acadia National Park. There are multiple trails up the 1,500 foot mountain but I think the best is the South Ridge from near Otter Creek. There is also a summit road that is open May-Fall that can be accessed on the Park Loop Road just south of Eagle Lake Road east of Eagle Lake. From the open summit you will be the first person to view the sun rising on the East Coast so make sure you find a way to make it up to the top before dawn. If you are ambitious the 4 mile trail in this guide will take you over a beautiful open ridge to the top.

Tips: Both the trail and the road are accessible from the Park Loop Road.
The trail starts from Champlain Drive (Route 3) just west of Otter Creek and the summit road starts on the Park Loop Road just south of Eagle Lake Road (Rte. 233).

There is a $10 car fee to enter the park.
