Broken Top Ski Descent of SW Ridge and Crater Bowl

Overview: This is a really amazing trip. Although the trudge in on closed forest service roads from the Tumalo parking lot is tough the terrain you will ski makes up for it. Snowmobiles are allowed here so if you have a friend with one convince them to tow you in. Or, keep a couple 6-packs as bribes at your car for a tow out. With a Snowmobile you can eliminate about 5-6 miles off this trek. The terrain is steep in places and it is a giant bowl so make sure the snow conditions are safe.

Tips: Directions: From Bend drive west on the Cascade Lakes Highway towards Mt. Bachelor. Park in the Tumalo parking lot across the street from the Bachelor entrance. This is where the Cascade Lakes Highway is plowed to in the winter. Start your trek from here following the buried road until you duck into the woods towards your destination. A snow-park pass is required to park here in the winter.
