Overview: This is one of the most dangous trail in American national park system. The last 0.5 mile is on the steap edge of tthe maountain. The trail road is well documented and well marketed. The trail starts at the bridge across the virgine river. There are two sets of swithcbacks. After ther first swtchback, you are into a slot canyon. Then, ther eis the second set of swtich backs. The first 2 miles are rather save. Most of the first part is under the sunlight. There is hardly any snow on the ground. Temperature in early Feb. is rather warm, reaching 60+ in the late morning.
The 2 mile mark has signs pointing to the angles landing trail and sign of warning. The 0last 0.5 mile is the real chanllenge. The trail is very steap. Part of the trail is overed with snow and ice. You will need hiking boots and addtional traction such as Yaktracs. Gove is also recommended so that you can hold on to the cold chain. Do not try this trail with a pari of sneakers. Your life is your responsibility. Turn back if too much snow or ice or close to darkness.

Tips: If youare not afarid of height, this trail is rather simple in summer. But winter is not that cold in Zion. In early Feb., the temperature can reach 60F in late afternoon. The snow should be melted rather quickly. Hiking boot is a must and addtional traction is recommneded. A pair of Grove is also recommended. The top at the angles landing is exposed to sun and ice is melted quicly.
There are very few people hiking up the rail in winter. The feeling of having the angles landing point all to yourself is the main reason you try this in the winter. Not afarid of heights, be prepared and act with caution, the winter hike up the angles landing will make all the effort worth it.
Hike up will take 1.5-2 hours. Coming down is another 1 hour. There is no wather along the road. Take at least 1 litle of wather in the winter. You will sweat.
