Alpha Trail

After a long climb up from Oak Creek, this loop trail is an often-missed gem.

Overview: This year-round mountain bike trail is a hidden gem of Mac/Dunn forest. It's just a short spin up a spur road near some of the most travelled areas of the forest, yet you'll likely never see a soul up here.

Along the way, look out for one of the largest Douglass firs in the area - literally! It's right in front of you on one of the switchbacks, if you take it too fast you may see it up close.

Two-Track Road
The first half of the loop is an old forest road. The packed surface makes for a quick ride out to the end.

Road Fork
At the fork, head left and you'll make it to the singletrack. The other road heads to other trails, make sure you know where you're heading.

Singletrack Begins
At the end of the old logging road, the singletrack begins. It's a tight, twisty route back to the start from here.

Windfall
As in the rest of the forest, watch out for windfall trees on the trail. In the early spring, you can find several trees across the major trails.

Massive Douglass Fir
One of the largest trees in this part of the forest.

This giant double-trunked tree has been hiding out on this ridge for hundreds of years. How it evaded logging years ago is a mystery.
