This is a pretty easy out in Point Reyes, California. It is a great place to go to a quiet beach if you aren't against having to hike a little bit for it. Along the way there are lots of flowers, wildlife, and nice view points of the lagoon.
Here there is a beach that stretches very far in both directions. Since it is a bit of the hike to this beach it is usually pretty empty. It is a great place to be if you want to go to the beach but don't want to worry about people.
Wonderful in the fall. It's a very easy walk from the trail-head to the beach, which is covered in beautiful dunes.
Birds all along the walk. While it looks a bit desolate, it's really a great experience. During the walk you focus on various marsh birds (saw White Pelican in the lagoon).
At the ocean you can then explore the coastal wildlife.
I think fall is the best time to go because the air is very clear and the light is good. Most importantly the winds are not so fierce. In summer/spring the winds are generally stronger.
Would not advise on high wind days unless you really layer up. Visited on Nov 16, 2013
