Annual fundraiser for the Arizona Trail Association. I rode the 35 mile option which begins at Box Canyon Rd and ends a Pistol Hill Rd.
This course starts at the boat ramp at Fools Hollow Lake and eventually takes you to Los Caballos Trail system and then back to the lake again by means of Joe Tank Rd.
We rode this loop in a CCW direction starting from TH#1 which is located at the Los Burros campground and historic ranger station. Parts of it had been closed last year due to a prescribed burn so it was nice to ride the whole loop.
We rode the Panorama Loop CW starting at the trailhead off Porter Mtn Rd. A great loop for beginner to intermediate riders. For me this was an excellent acclimation ride for my XTERRA race the following day.
Psycho-Cyclefest 2010 Santiam and McKenzie Pass Scenic Byway, Cascade Mountains

Sisters, Oregon, United States

One of the best long-distance road biking loops in Oregon, this ride follows the 90 mile Santiam and McKenzie Pass Scenic Byway over two mountain passes with about 5700 ft (1700m) of climbing. In effect it's a loop around Mt Washington. We left around 7am. Air temps hovering at 38F (3C). After the obligatory stop at Sisters Coffee we headed out on the Santiam Highway. This stretch of road can be busy and getting...
This loop is combo of the Peaks Moto Trail (motorcycle trail), Arizona Trail, forest roads and pavement.
Parked at the Pima Canyon trailhead and took Desert Classic west to Telegraph Pass parking, then Desert Hills Pkwy to Desert Classic Extension (DCX) to Bees Knees to National Trail to the intersection with the road at Telegraph. Took the road up to Buena Vista lookout and back on National again to Mormon, then fire road and a bit of the West Loop before arriving back at Pima TH.
Needed to stay in Europe over the weekend so I decided to visit my friends near Lausanne. This is the short route I took on Saturday afternoon- a real trip down memory lane as I used to ride/live in the area. La Suisse Romande is, in my opinion, the best place I have ever ridden. Roads are excellent. There are literally hundreds of awesome ride variants, so you can get almost any distance/difficulty...
This was my fifth attempt at the Challenge, having completed the previous loop a few months ago with a total time of around 7 3/4 hours. We opted for the Brown Mtn. bypass option which is much harder but you get to subtract 1 hour from your total time. In my opinion it was not worth it due to the amount of time you are carrying your back up switchbacks too steep...
Rock Wren -> Yetman -> Starr Pass -> Cat Mtn -> Explorer -> 36th St -> Starr Pass -> Rock Wren
A little slice of heaven....Broken Arrow -> Little Horse -> Bell Rock -> HT -> Templeton -> Baldwin -> Templeton -> HT -> Bell Rock -> Little Horse -> Llama -> Bell Rock -> Big Park
Standard out and back on the Lower 50 with the chutes and Middlegate thrown in. A few fun sessioning spots included. Photos posted on a friends Picasa page. Link
My GPS route from the Antelope Peak Challenge, one of the Arizona Endurance Series races. This course consists of a lot of pavement and dirt roads, as well as the Arizona Trail and other single-track. The gas line section of the course was pure hell, there were multiple climbs exceeding 20% grade. I deviated from the course about 52 miles in but realized it about a mile later, which sucked because it cost...
This was my fourth attempt at the Challenge, having completed the previous loop a few months ago with a total time of around 9 hours. This time we finished about 1.5 hours earlier than before. This is a great training loop for other endurance events due to the varying terrain and substantial elevation gain. We started at the Sweetwater trailhead this time instead of Starr Pass and were happier with that since you get...
I wanted to check out the new trails the county crew is putting in so I set out on an exploratory ride in the Torts. I started at the small private memorial parking lot at Moore and Como Rd and rode north to Cougar Canyon Rd (no cougar moms spotted) and headed up the Jeep road into the mountains. The road is pretty steep in sections but it eventually levels out and you come...
I started at the Pemberton TH inside McDowell Mtn Park and rode the Pemberton CCW to the Coachwhip Trail and took it to Windmill Trail which takes you to the boundary with McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Once inside the preserve I continued on and took Windgate Pass (what a climb!) to the saddle and then bombed down the other side of Windgate to Desert Park Trail. This trail seems like an old service...
