Back in August 1993 I went up Half Dome taking the same route as you did, that was before the age of digital cameras and GPS units. Thanks for sharing!
Tip: I had a 10-foot piece of rope and a carabiner which I tied around my waist to secure myself in the cables section, highly suggested for safety in case of traffic in that section.

Looking at your photos over the cables down to Half Dome's 'shoulder', I've always regreted never getting that shot from my own trip. ****** My fear of heights probably won't let me do that trip again, but I have enough other photos and great memories. ******

We just back from Half Dome this past weekend. Left early in the morning with a full moon but the trail was still tough to find in some locations. Thanks to your GPS coordinates, was able to find the trail again. Great hike and thanks for your post.

I've climbed Half Dome 3 times so far. The first time was with my brother and dad on my Dad's 50th birthday. We planned for it to take 10-12 hours as the information said but ended up only taking about 6-7 (what a relief).
The second time I went up with 2 friends and we left the Bay Area around 10pm (after a full day of work!) and started up around 3 or 4 am. We got to the top just after sunrise and were feeling great. When we decided to head down, one of my friends got very sick and I had to run back down to Little Yosemite Campground to pump more water before running back up. We had to stop the ranger station for my friend to rest and made it back down just after dark. I think it was about 16 hours total. I then drove back to San Francisco that night, I had about an hour of sleep at the top of Half dome in about a 40-something hour period. Needless to say I spent all of the next day sleeping.
My 3rd time was also eventful--my we got into a car crash around 4am and banged up the car pretty badly. We figured that what was done was done and we might as well enjoy the hike before worry about the car. We got back around 11pm, giving us a solid 9 hours of studying before finals started the next day. Ahh, good memories.
