I couldn't find the section between Kaijusenji and Shinrin Koen, unless it's the trail with all the steps, so you have to carry the bike all the way.
I now live in Kizugawa, and would be happy to show you trails in those hills, or vice versa.
All the best, Richard

Parts of the scenery looked familiar to me. We happened to cycle along some of the routes in spring this year. Oh, how I missed Kyoto.
Hi Southsider. Thanks for viewing my latest trip. The cycle-way along the Kamo River go a long-way upstream. This is a really-great way to experience scenery without having to contend with the traffic, and all that comes with it. I intend to write more articles on river-cycling,including Arashiyama.

Long name, excellent trip.
This looks like another good one, Barry; although my knees prefer the long gradual climbs over the steep ascents of my youth.

Same here Kevin. But,on a hot day, this was hard. Also, there is nothing wrong with a good gut-buster.Gets the sweat out of you.

It's got some nice looking countryside, Barry. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Kevin.I thought, once I realised that I had taken the wrong turn-off,I would just go where the wind took me,so to say, and,as a result,I had a great ride.I will definitely be returning to this area.

This looks like an oasis of tranquility. This looks like a combination of paved, gravel, and dirt trail?
Hi Kevin. You were quick to view this trail.I have only just finished posting it.Take another look as I have added some "Waypoints".It has a bit of everything. For such a short distance, there was plenty to distract me.
Beautiful pictures. You are much better at getting your trips onto Everytrail than I am. I've got a backlog of about 30 trips/guides to work on this winter.
It takes practise and patience. I'll tell you one thing that is very-useful,when taking your camera on biketrips,is a small tripod.Do you know the ones I mean? They strap onto anything.I upload my photos using "Google Picasa".I can work magic with a bad photo.
Beautiful countryside and trails. Your "get lost" approach sounds really good fun.
I also had some nice experiences meeting with Japanese people when cycling in Japan, especially in Hokkaido. The biggest pity was that neither my wife or me could speak Japanese.

Hi Southsider. Thank's for your comment. It was a great trip and I enjoyed the "get lost" approach as I could just tour freely and take-in all the great scenery.I have been in this area many times and use it to get exercise more than a serious bike-ride.There is a hiking course that I plan to hike in the coming weeks. One of the best things when in the "outdoors" is meeting fellow hikers or mountain-bikers. Hope to see you in Japan soon. Have a great day.
