I ride one of a few dualsport motorcycles (YAM WR450, KTM 620 Adv, KTM 640 Enduro) and I use the Garmin 60 CSx. With the RAM mount it fits right on the bars and is rugged, and works VERY well. Easy to load tracks and pull saved tracks off. I use it with TOPO and City Navigator.

Love it!

I currently have a Samsung Omnia (i) and either use the everytrail software or Memory Map which uses the UK OS maps. This is very good to plan and view routes.

On the trail I use a Garmin eTrex Legend. In the car I have a Nuvi 250. I'm looking to upgrade the eTrex to something else maybe the HCx version. For software I mostly use MapSource.

Sold my Garmin 60CSx and now have a Garmin Oregon 550T - works so much better with custom maps and OS GB Discoverer - unit works well with Memory Map too.

I use 2 x devices depending on what's handy. The first is my Nokia Navigator 6110 using Sports Tracker..good for a 4 hour ride before the battery says enough. Export gpx files into Everytrail...this works fine and never had a problem. For more serious enduro rides over 4 hours, I use a Qstars BT Q2000 GPS logger. This is designed specifically for bike use and has a headstem mount with LCD readout (usual stats - speed, distance, time, GPS coordinates and altitude etc.). Good for around 22 hours of use when on tour over multiple days. Loads into excellent sports mgt software where gpx file can be exported for use in Everytrail. This logger / software is highly recommended and inexpensive ($149 AUD). Cheers Gary (Australia).

I'm using an unlocked HTC Whitestone with Windows Mobile 6.5, full gps/agps.
I don't like the way the EveryTrail software logs gps, so I'm using NaviComputer to handle it all.

I then use AtomGPS (Windows) to automatically geotag the shots from my digital camera with the GPX from NaviComputer.

Thanks for this site. It is a great way to share my trips with friends. I have posted three trips on this site using my old Magellan Explorist600 and GPS visualizer. As you can tell by the tracks, it is not very accurate. On my South Dakota trip, the old truck went 400 mph a couple of times. My canoe exceeded 80 mph also. I hope this unit never goes bad because my new Garmin1490T does not have enough battery for hikes & canoe trips.

For hiking or outdoor use when I also want to navigate, I use my Garmin GPSmap 76CS. When I'm doing a short hike from my car, I use my nuvi 265W (but the battery is rather limited, so this is not a good option for >1-2 hours). However, my preferred device is now a QStarz BT-Q1000XT data recorder. It can record for ~40 hours, but the batteries last much longer than that because it shuts off when it doesn't detect motion. The geotagging SW it comes with works okay, but is a bit obscure -- and the dialog box to control the device settings is too big for a netbook. The logged data can be exported in a number of formats though, so any number of products can use it.

What I like about the data recorder is that it just records the lat/long: I don't need to buy maps for it. For a three-week vacation in the UK, it recorded flawlessly, and made it easy to geotag several hundred pictures on two different cameras.

I use the Garmin GPSMap 60CSX and am really liking it. It came with software called Map Source and I use it to create my routes from my waypoints and then I download the file to Everytrail. I am very happy with this GPS it is waterproof so great when I kayak it has a rubber padding so can be dropped and is easy to use. Has color maps. I downloaded the Florida topo and SE US maps for free from http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/ and the maps added tremendous detail to my maps.
