Relating Elevation to Map Coordinates

It seems to me it would be nice to be able to relate a point on the elevation profile to a point on the map. Perhaps, for example, I could put the cursor over a specific point on the elevation profile and have a "pin" show up at the corresponding place on the map. Likewise, it would be nice to put the cursor over a point on the track, and have a marker appear at the corresponding point on the elevation profile.

I suspect these are going to be hard to implement.

Because most of my trips are by bicycle, I am perhaps more obsessive about elevation than most people. Uphill hurts!

Hi

I have another wish concerning the elevation:
My tracks (tracked by a Garmin Colorado 300) have sometimes wrong elevation information.
I would like that I have a option on Everytrail which allows me to fix the elevation based on the information from GoogleEarth (3d api). This feature would take the elevation of the track point instead of the elevation from the Garmin track record ...

Or does anybody has a good idea, how I can fix the elevation automaticaly with another tool (so far I just use MapSource).

We are also currently looking at this. Our plan is to allow users to either use their recorded elevations, or to replace it with elevations we grab from a database. The only problem is when users post flying trips where the elevations are not tied to the ground. Would you use a feature like this?

Yes, this is exactly the feature I am looking for
Of course: it has to be optional for the user to replace the elevation by data from "your" database.
