Large file simplification

Postby henryglasse on Thu Apr 26, 2012 4:04 am

We have just cycled the length of UK in 11 days. Track was logged on AMOD 3080. I have amalgamated all daily files into one using a texteditor and file resulting file is over 15 mb. Tried to convert to gpx, mmo and kmz files with gpsbabel and still too big for Everytrail. Also tried zipping files to upload but that didn't work. Any ideas on how I can simplify the files for upload to Everytrail would be welcome.

Thanks.

In GPSBable, try to implement data filter for your track. Simplify the points of track to limited number. 10000 will be a good number. The filter will reduce the number of points in the track but still try to keep its shape.
