Windows Mobile GPS not recognizing satellites

Postby deezy456 on Sun Jun 13, 2010 7:28 am

I have an HTC Touch Pro 2 with windows mobile. The app runs, however it never recognizes any satellites. I do have Google Maps on the phone and that connects easily to the satellites. I have tried the intermediate driver and different COM ports. None seem to find the satellites.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work?

Thanks!

I had a similar problem, I waited three hours to grab the GPS satellites with no effect. Other GPS applications work without a problem. Everytrail reinstalled several times. I did not change the default settings, I clicked a Trip Record and went on the road bike, after 30 minutes caught the satellite. If you do not use a long time GPS satellite search is extended

Do you have assisted GPS turned on? There should be about 3 or 4 individual toggles in your phone's control panel in order to enable everything, and QuickGPS is also a must. Some carriers will also lock out GPS to third-party apps except with a special API.

I have never had good results with using EveryTrail to log GPS data. Try using NaviComputer (it's free), which has gotten me a lock on 5 or 6 sats while out and about.. very precise too. Then you can just upload the GPX to EveryTrail for your trips.

I'm like Zielle - I'm using NaviComputer (with HTC Tilt on ATT). Apparently my phone's too old to have the control panel settings he's describing. I've only discovered EveryTrail just today and I don't see a WindowMobile app to download??? QuickGPS is an app that was already on my phone - It's set to update satelite parameters once a week - I have no idea what it connects to (via my data plan) in order to get that info, but it's supposed to help the device lock onto satelites more accurately/rapidly. It might help with your problem, or not.

I notice my device tracks pretty good... until my battery gets low... then suddenly my hike gets more interesting.... continuing in the middle of the Atlantic or some exotic place!

Hello! I can't definitely say what's the reason. But one thing to definitely try is make sure quickgps is up to date and automatically downloading. Once i loaded up quickgps, updated it, mobile spy and ran garmin again, full green signal.
