A question regarding email notifications

Postby Joe_King on Fri Nov 04, 2011 1:13 pm

Having finally gotten round to creating a guide, I'm now getting email notifications whenever the guide gets downloaded. Sometimes the email gives the name of the user in question e.g. "Joe King has downloaded your EveryTrail guide" and sometimes it just says "A user has downloaded your EveryTrail guide". Why is it sometimes I get the name and other times it's anonymous?

On a related note, when I choose to follow a user, I would have expected to get a notification when they upload a new trip or guide but this doesn't seem to happen. What is the point of following users?

We show the username when the user is logged in. Through our apps, it is possible to download a guide without having a user account (in this case, we create one behind the scenes for them to use later if they wish), but we don't have a username for them, which is why we just say "a user"

For following, you will see their actions on your home page's activity feed, and you will receive a weekly digest email summarizing the most recent activity (you can change this to daily in your account settings if you wish)
