You should give the power to trusted users to change the cities in the Guides. That way when a visitor to the site clicks Find Guides then filters by location down to the State Level they can get better groupings of Guides.
Right now the default is to use whatever little city is closest even if the average user looking for hikes/guides has no idea what that city is.
Take a look at guides in Oregon for how I've been changing the names to better suit areas (I've been able to do this because I've written most of the guides in Oregon). http://www.everytrail.com/guides/browse/united-states/oregon

In this case the city should be changed to Mt. Hood to group hikes around the Mt. Hood Wilderness area. Same with the Guides in Government Camp.
