GARMIN EDGE 500

Hello
ive just received a Garmin edge 500 but im not able to send any of the trips to everytrail.
the file extension for the 500 is .fit
ive also installed the garmin plugin,but when it goes to find any trip,the bar just stays green.
am i doing something wrong or the .fit files are not compliant with everytrail?

I also just got a 500. It doesn't appear in the list of known devices when I upload my files. To upload them, I use the Garmin Training Center to export the ride as a .tcx file, then upload the file rather than trying to do it directly from the device.
