Terrain Maps Version 4.3.2

Postby ehallander on Tue Mar 13, 2012 3:16 pm

After turning off WiFi I was able to finally download the terrain maps from some trips that I am interested in. The downloaded tiles all appeared to be successfully downloaded. The information says Terrain. the size is 54 KB. all 310 tiles were downloaded, yet I cannot view these terrain files in the map. They do not even preview on the Saved Map screen. If I press View on My Map, My Map jumps to the location, but the is dark grey.....

What am I doing wrong here?

I am on an iPhone 4 running ios5.0

Thanks
Eric

I have the same issue. Only since I upgraded to IOS5. I can get terrain maps in some areas, but not others (that I used to be able to get).

Whats going on!

Hi,

I'm new to the Iphone app and I am experiencing trouble downloading Terrain maps. It fails on all terrainn tiles. I can download midnight maps without any problems. I would be very interested in a fix for this.

Thanks

Abtex,

That one I can answer. I had the same failures at first, all tiles failed. I turned off the wifi connection and then they downloaded fine.

Go Figure!

Cheers
Eric

I heard from support today, that this is a known issue on the iphone and they are working on a fix to submit to Apple soon.

Umm, this is a rather large failing. No terrain mapping in the iPhone app? (The 3g trick didn't work for me, and it could be costly and slow). This should be an extremely high priority for Everytrail staffers. The prob has been around 6 weeks at least.

And the problem should be publicly announced. It took me forever to find this thread. (Various error messaged that others might search under: "failed tile downloads" or "0 map tiles out of ..."

I'm a "pro" user, and more than happy to pay for good working programs. But, umm, this renders this App minimally functional

Very frustrating that the app description on the App Store clearly states that you can download maps for 'offline' usage. When I try to download a map for a Trip that I've downloaded, it simply runs me through a count of "failed" tile downloads.

Agree with other posts here... they need to make fixing this a priority... and they need to make a clear and definitive statement somewhere that they acknowledge the issue and intend to have it fixed by X date.

Argh!!!!!!

Abtex... regarding your success at downloading midnight maps, how/where do you stipulate the kind of maps to download? I am able to view the midnight maps (and all other types) when I am connected via wifi/cell... but I am unable to download any maps for usage when I'm offline.

I can't BELEIVE there's no mention of this on the EveryTrail website... I've been struggling with this issue for while now, and only FINALLY found this post. Why isn't there even a stickied post at the very top of the 'Problems' forum??

Attention EveryTrail: You you have a known, app-breaking bug. Your users are frustrated, and from our perspective it looks like you're trying to sweep it under the rug. The way to keep customers is to acknowledge the issue, describe any known workarounds, and detail your plan to resolve the issue. Be upfront about this stuff, don't just hope it goes away...

Hi,

I get very mixed results from download midnight maps. I put my phone on airplane mode and tried to zoom in and out of the downloaded area. sometimes the area loaded, other times it did not. Not great if you're in the middle of nowhere

Thanks
