Hi, the units depend on the general settings on your iPhone.

Go to Settings --> General --> International --> Region format.

If you set the region format to a European country the units in the app will change to metric (km/h etc).

Hope this helps.

Okay - just back from a bike ride with data (I think) captured on the bike computer. Now what? How do I transfer the data up to http://www.everytrail.com?

Someone of our team should have emailed you. Did you get that message?

Basically you need to hit "Save" and then type a trip title and description. You can then hit upload. If you already filled out your username and password in the app it will upload directly, if not it will save a draft and tell you to enter your EveryTrail username and password in the "Settings" tab.

Hope this helps.

No email to be found, but the software magically uploaded 2 rides (on top of one another). So it appears there was a glitch, but now the data is flowing.

I noticed the other software (sorry, can't recall the name - the hiking sw) has an ability to take photos along the way, but the bike computer appears not to. Should I be using these in some combination, or have I not completely figured out the feature sets offered?

Finally, and completely off topic: there is often a bunch of php debug output on your www pages. As a geek - it doesn't bother me, but you should look to see that you aren't sending the wrong impression to folks:

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /usr/share/php/Zend/Loader.php on line 83: Zend_Loader::include_once(bbcode.php) [zend-loader.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /usr/share/php/Zend/Loader.php on line 83: Zend_Loader::include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening 'bbcode.php' for inclusion (include_path='/var/www/html/everytrail/class/:.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php')

Brent,
Thanks for the feedback. We know about the ZEND code errors you mention. Since we are in the process of improving our architecture the fix won't make it to live until after a while.

To your question about BikeComputer vs EveryTrail vs Geotagging apps: The bike computer is meant to show you stats while biking. It does not have a camera function, mainly due to the fact that adding this function in landscape mode turned out to be difficult. If you'd like to take photos we recommend to use the EveryTrail app. It does all that the other apps do.

Okay - I get it. Thanks for the help! I was mainly interested in the bike computer for the stats at the end of the ride - not so much along the way (although having my lunch and eating it too would make me happy).

Hi there everyone.

I've been using the everytrail app on my phone quite a bit over the last few months. I do a lot of roadcycling.
I decided to try out the bike computer and duct-taped my iphone to my handlebars.

However, the rides I have recorded using the bike computer won't upload.
I get a message saying that "there was a problem with connecting to the site, please try again later"

After doing a quick search of the forum I found several posts by other users outlining the same problem.
(viewtopic.php?f=4&t=413&p=1385&hilit=iphone+problem+with+connection+to+site#p1385)

I've tried uploading using GPRS, Edge, 3G and 2 wifi networks in different regions. Nothing works. I tried going back to everytrail which still uploads.

My question is, do you guys know what causes this error? Will there be an update to fix it soon?
I'll go back to using everytrail for the time being but I like the idea of the app displaying my stats as I ride.

Cheers

AJ
