Popular Trips in Yosemite Valley
A great hike with magnificent views of the valley and Yosemite Falls. Hint: do it in the morning before sun hits the trail. The trail is quite steep but not technical at all. One of Yosemite must do hikes.
This was our last hiking day in Yosemite for this trip. We started pretty early so we were able to beat the crowds to the saddle. We started up the cables about 10:30am or so. This was my second time up and the hike seemed easier than the first time, probably due to cooler weather. We spent about an hour at the top, there was still a patch of snow at the...

For most people hiking Half Dome, they start from the JMT (John Muir Trail) trailhead near the gaging station at Happy Isles, take Mist Trail later, pass Vernal Falls and Neveda Falls, go back to JMT, pass Little Yosemite Valley and finally take Half Dome Trail...
Our first time to the top of Half Dome. Route via the Mist Trail and back via John Muir. Oh, also popped the question at the top (she said yes!)

Mirror Lake is located in Tenaya Valley, right below the famous Half Dome. It is a popular hike to loop around the lake via the trails on both sides of Tenaya Creek. However, the south portion of the trail is closed due to the rockfall below Ahwiyah Point happend in March 2009. This was my 2nd Half Dome hike in July, 2010. I was so supprised to see so many hikers to Half Dome on Thursday. It was probably due to the fact that now you need permit for Half Dome on weekends and Thursday was the last day to climb without permit in the week. I started the hike at 5:30 from the JMT trailhead at Happy Isles and took Mist Trail to connect with...
