William B. Umstead State Park Atv Trips
I kayaked Lake Crabtree in 48F weather with a splash jacket and pants to keep me dry and layered clothes underneath to keep me warm. I went straight across to Crabtree Creek, past the Evans Road bridge, and back. I met a friend on the beach to take some photos of me using my phone.
We took some time to get away from the distractions of the city with a quick hike around the Sal's Branch Trail loop in Umstead Park.
Sandy and I headed to Umstead
for a morning hike. We hiked the Sycamore Trail and took some pictures
of fungi growing along the trail and the bridge over Sycamore Creek.
On the way back, we took Pott's Branch Trail back to the parking lot.
It is a dreary day in Raleigh. It rained all last night and part of
this morning, but started to clear up towards lunch time, so Sandy and I
went to Umstead
and hiked from the Reedy Creek side. We hiked from the parking lot
just a short ways on Company Mill Trail and took the short Inspiration

Today, I went with Rod for his Umstead Ruins Hike, going around Umstead Park and seeing old homesteads and other sites and learning about the history of the area.
