The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) is one of 10 public campuses within the University of California (UC) system. UCSB occupies over 1,000 acres in Santa Barbara, California, which is located roughly 100 miles northwest of Los Angeles. UCSB is an undergraduate, graduate and research university that supports five colleges. More than 18,000 undergraduate and almost 3,000 graduate students make UCSB the 5th largest university in the UC system. According to Wikiepedia, "UCSB houses eleven national research centers, including the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics, Southern California Earthquake Center, and Materials Research Laboratory. Five faculty members have won the Nobel Prize, 29 have been elected to the National Academy of Sciences, 27 to the National Academy of Engineering, and 23 to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences." Athletics are also strong at UCSB, where the "gauchos" are especially accomplished in soccer, water polo and basketball.
Community Trips
Basically flat walk from South Hall to beach alongside Manzanita dorms, and returning via the lagoon, up through Arts, and alongside Storke Plaza.
