On the third day of our trip we decided to take a day hike up to El Lake.  We started by crossing a river that was just below waist deep, and then climbed our way up the mountain on a path that was not very well maintained.  We finally reached the lake just in time for lunch.  After eating our crackers, cheese, and salami, Schlag and I decided to go for a...

The Trinity Alps is one of the best kept secrets in Northern California Hiking. People immediately think of Yosemite and Tahoe if they want mountains and lakes, but this place has all of that with less than 1/10th of the crowds. I went here with a few buddies after graduating from college and we may have run into 2 other parties the entire 4 days. It seemed like we had the mountains and the lakes all to ourselves, it was just amazing.

You should see how great it is for yourself, just don't all go the next time I'm there :)
