The Teton Wilderness is part of Bridger-Teton National Forest in Northwestern Wyoming. With 585,468 acres, it represents one of the premier wild areas in the American West, and in fact contains the most remote point---farthest from any road---in the lower 48 States (Bridger Lake, near the confluence of the Thorofare and Yellowstone Rivers). Teton Wilderness is bounded to the North by Yellowstone National Park, to the West by Grand Teton National Park and the John. D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway, to the East by the Washakie Wilderness (part of Shoshone National Forest) and to the South by non-Wilderness areas of Bridger-Teton National Forest. Teton Wilderness straddles the Continental Divide, and contains the headwaters of both the Yellowstone and Snake Rivers. Elevations in Teton Wilderness range from about 7,500 to over 12,000 feet.
