Nice hike from Fortescue Bay to Cape Hauy, then to Mt. Fortescue and back to Fortescue Bay via the Cape Pillar track.

The weather bode ill with late rain forecast and I\'d had to go into Hobart to sort a couple of things out so I had a late start.  Still, it was only listed as two hours and I had a spray jacket. The sign there also said two hours.  I surely hoped there wouldn\'t be another carpark on further with the same sign! I trudged along and the trail slowly but surely started to climb until it became a moderate...

This is the shortest way to Cape Surville.Turn east off the Arthur Highway (A9) at Murdunna into Hylands Road.  Follow this gravel forestry road, ignoring sidetracks, to both left and right which lead to forestry coups.  Drive 9.6km from Murdunna to a junction and if the gate on the right along Richardsons Road is open drive along this to the end. The walking track commences here and soon climbs to go over...

This was a scheduled walk with the Hobart based Pandani Walking Club who have at least two walks on every weekend. The walk is a spectacular costal walk along beaches and cliff tops and was on the last third of the Tasman Coastal Track which runs from Waterfall Bay to Fortescue Bay or if you wish vies versa. The day was almost perfect and as we set off on our walk members of...

The Tasman National park is a great place to visit for easy or hard bush walking and for day or multi day hikes. Suggest staying at Stewart's Bay or Port Arthur. If you haven't visited the historical site of Port Arthur make sure you take the time. Suggest a full day for this. A good time to visit is in May when it is the off season and not too crowded.
