Popular Trips in Superstition Wilderness
Short exploratory hike of Siphon Draw Trail in the Lost Dutchman State Park. This trail is on the western end of the Superstition Ridgeline Trail. The Peralta Trail is on the eastern end of the Superstition Ridgeline Trail.
I wanted to hike to Hackberry Mesa (near Garden Valley) in the Superstition Wilderness, but the trailhead parking lot was full. I parked at the overflow lot and decided to see if I could find my way to Hackberry Mesa without walking back to the trailhead first. I set out across the desert and soon found a well-worn trail that took me to Garden Valley.
I hiked up to Broadway cave about a year ago. Since then, I've wondered where the trail went that continued on past the Broadway Cave turn-off. It was a beautiful day today, so I decided to head out there.

I've been hiking over there lately and wanted to have a view of that area from another vantage point. The sky was mostly clear after yesterday's rains, but the air was still hazy with moisture. The view was great.
I went for a hike in an area I hadn't been in before, mostly to see a place I hadn't seen before. I was going to try to get to a small peak, and check out an old road. It was sunny when I started out and it was about 60 degrees.
An epic day with chollaball. We met at the cloudview lot and worked our way over to Lost Dutchman State Park. Work being the key word.Lost Goldmine West is a tough, tough trail. Rideable, but so chunky and bouncy. It takes full concentration not to get bucked. From LGW to Jacobs crosscut is a nightmare on a bike. Not steep enough to have to HAB, but not one smooth spot. All babyheads, all...
