The Stanford Dish is a popular running, walking and hiking area bordering the Stanford University Campus. The area is named after the large radio telescope that can not be missed. The main loop, on paved trail, is about 6 miles long and is very hilly. There is an option to extend the loop by taking an out and back extension to the back hill, that leads down to the Alpine Road entrance, near Highway 280.

Another "walkabout" for my digital photography class. This time we walked around the Dish and became friends with some cows.
The Stanford Dish loop is a good run. The path is paved, but very steep at times (see the elevation profile!).
This time, on a nice, cool September evening, I ran the extended loop, which is about 5.6 miles. When you reach the dish itself, turn left (if running clockwise) to the Alpine Rd entrance, and then trurn around to climb back up.
Hiking the Dish, iPhone edition. The elevation chart is pretty good.
Felix and Lula in action.
Pretty hazy day, but I wanted to explore with uploading some pictures. Tough taking pictures in stride. Not the best shots, but it's a start. . .
