Smith Rock is a popular climbing destination close to the city of Bend in Oregon. Composed of compressed volcanic ash, Smith Rock offers some of the best sport climbing in North America. There is also an extensive trail system that provides great hiking opportunities.

Good New Years Day hike. Snowy on the trail but with micro spikes it was easy to do.
This is a mecca for climbers and the campground is for climbers only but there is a nearby primitive campground Skull Hollow (Crooked River National Grasslands). The rocks here are awesome and it is fun to watch the climbers. The favorite route if you only have time for one is up the Misery Trail over the top and around a spire called The Monkey Face and then back along the river. ...
