Hooked up with John who we've met a few times in Whistler and Moab to check out some Sedona single track! We also stopped by Fat Tire Bike Shop, owned by Dave Cichan who is incredibly knowledgeable about bike suspension especially and bikes particularly. They took us on one of the back yard trails - Hangover Rock - a pretty technical little rip! Video of Hangover on Vimeohttp://vimeo.com/12787394

If you are a rider who likes flowy singletrack don't attempt this ride. This is an advanced technical very scenic epic ride with about 150 yards of hike-a-bike for an advanced rider.  A lot of time we will do this ride when Oak Creek is too high to cross and we don't want to ride up to the trout farm, which is up the creek from the creek crossing we use. Oak Creek...

First decent hike in three weeks - it is good to get out again. The day is cold and clear, with occasional 20 mph wind gusts.

I hit the trail at 2:24pm; temperature is 96 F. Somehow I must've acclimatized - the heat doesn't bother me or slow me down today. The afternoon clouds are striking and I keep my camera's shutter clicking. Soldier's Pass Trail climbs up to Brins Mesa and I only see one couple on the trail - it's nice to have the afternoon to myself. Once up on the mesa, the recent fire's damage is...

One of the more technical trails in Sedona. Park up Schnebly Hill Road and ride Cow Pie. You head up to the same saddle you take to Hangover. Then you go right but don't look to the left!Todays ride - Damifino, Damifido, Killer Bee and Brew Pub. The trail ends at the Grasshopper Point Campground and rest stop. Check out the Video at Vimeohttp://www.vimeo.com/12922359

Kinda like a mini Nodfest...4 of us playing in secret trails...We started at 2nd coming,  went up grand central, found some older and newer secret trails, passed by the sink hole on our way up   T-Cup and then the upper trail to the mountain shadows exit. Here are two links to videos of two trails we rode on the loop:Tea Cuphttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9F_0NhO6akHigh Sugar Loaf aka: Summithttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAfXHwsaRqY

Cow Pies in the rain

Brenda and I take a short hike around the Cow Pie on a nice rainy day. I put my camera in a new ziploc bag to keep it dry - the results were so-so and required much processing to be marginally presentable. Perhaps I need the water housing they make for my Canon G10...If you like this trip, feel free to rate it - just click one of the yellow stars, above...

Absolute Bliss, Gorgeous shades of red that change as the sun dances across the stone over the course of the day. The air is very dry here. Make sure you are hydrated prior to your exploration and take at least 2L--I prefer a 3 liter camelback pack--extra to share if you come across others who are not as prepared. Absorb the beauty of life deep out in the red as you may venture almost anywhere in Sedona for reptiles and cricks. Enjoy

Sedona is about beauty and how we interact with such beauty is through hiking. Sedona has close to 200 hiking trails that take you to the most extraordinary places on this earth. Finding the right trail is key. The Hike House has a super cool technology called Sedona Trail Finder that finds the perfect trail for you based on your responses to 5 hiking related questions (time, distance, elevation, area and difficulty...plays out on 50" plasma screens in their store. You find them on the internet www.thehikehouse.com

New Year's Day ride was almost a freeze out, but only the brave survived it. About a dozen riders came out for our annual event!
