Nice, little hike with great views at the top.
We had a straightforward geocaching plan, then we went off to investigate a fun multi-cache that wasn't on the plan, and...eventually found the trail we wanted again. Beautiful place to wander!
Fun, easy hike with some great views. Grabbed some geocaches on the return hike. This hike is described in detail in Jerry Schad's book, Afoot and Afield In San Diego County. Recorded with my Garmin Oregon 450 GPSr.
This was a pretty fun, but fairly disorganized, geocaching trip in and around the SDSU Observatories. It was looking grim there, as you can see... Nice place for some Autumn geocaching.
Lost the trail once or twice, had to duck under a barbwire fence and jump another. Duh!
Red Peak is on the east side of the Sawtooth Mountains on BLM land in San Diego County. The best place to start is the trail head to the Moonlight
