I decided that my first recorded trip would be one with the whole family. So we headed to the end of Santa Anita ave. in Arcadia to start our hike of the day. The temperature that afternoon was about 66 when we started and 57 by the time we got back. That was probably my 4th. time to Sturtervant Falls, but I love this easy trail.
This is a great summer hike into
beautiful Cooper Canyon from Buckhorn Campground via the Burkhart Trail. This
is hike number 62 in “Trails of the Angeles: 100 Hikes in the San Gabriels” and
from Robinson’s description, I knew we were in for a sylvan treat. It was also an
extra special hike for us since our daughter, Holly decided to join us.

Like the casual hikers that we are, we left LA around noon, arrived to the trailhead in 45 minutes, and was walking by 1pm.
