Popular Trips in San Francisco
With an extra hour of sunlight today I decided to walk along the Barbary Coast trail, a historic walk through downtown San Francisco, starting by Union Square and ending at Fisherman's Wharf.I walked through Chinatown, up to Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill, and then along Embarcadero up to Aquatic Park before getting a delicious breadbowl of crab chowder.
I have lived in San Francisco for WAY too long (ok, 5 months) to have not done this hike yet. I planned to do it a couple of months ago and underestimated the walk through Golden Gate Park to the Cliffhouse and had already hiked a solid 6 miles before getting there (and then it was dark...). This weekend I got an early start (11am) and dedicated the day to it; every...

This is drawn by riding a bike around San Francisco and having a GPS satellite trace my path. What you're looking at is a ride around the Mission, mostly flat except for a couple steep hills on the western side. Short Walk around the Lands End Seacliff Area with cameras, an extra lens, & a couple friends! We had a morning free and decided to take advantage of a spectacularly clear day with great temperatures. Quite a few joggers and sightseers were present on the trail on the day we went, but that is no surprise, and there was certainly some great views for everyone.
I would love to hike the entire Bay Area Ridge Trail (ridgetrail.org). I had some time on a rare trip to San Francisco, and decided to knock off two segments of the trail. The Ridge Trail is divided into segments. These correspond to hikes listed in the "bible" of the Trail, "Bay Area Ridge Trail: The Official Guide for Hikers, Mountain Bikers, and Equestrians" by Jean Rusmore. See http://www.ridgetrail.org/interactive_map/&Itemid=99/ for a great way to check...
Tucked away, but spectacular trail along the cliffs in San Francisco. Great for a brief afternoon escape of the city.
EveryTrail Team had an offsite last thursday. We did the San Francisco architecture walking tour in the morning and discover some secret gardens(POPOS) at financial district. After lunch, Joost, Chris and I went for a walk at North Beach when Katherine, Paul and Benoit busy exploring Noe Valley.
The weather was supposed to be great today and I was going to see the Banff Mountain Film festival at the Palace of the fine arts so I decided to shift my schedule around a bit and work late the night before and wake up early so that I could have a few extra hours free while the sun was still out.I met David at caltrain and we road down embarcadero to...
David, John and I decided to take advantage of the nice weather in San Fransico today and go for a walk around Lands End. We took a short detour down to the beach where we spent a while taking pictures of the crashing waves and the foam blowing in the wind. We decided to walk by the Palace of the Legion of Honor on the way back and soon found ourselves at...
