With an extra hour of sunlight today I decided to walk along the Barbary Coast trail, a historic walk through downtown San Francisco, starting by Union Square and ending at Fisherman's Wharf.I walked through Chinatown, up to Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill, and then along Embarcadero up to Aquatic Park before getting a delicious breadbowl of crab chowder.
Well we wanted to make it Bridge Week and go over another bridge. Since we only logged Dumbarton Bridge once before, we decided to try it again. This time going OVER the Hwy 84 Toll Booth overpass just to see where it took us. Well we discoverd another gorgous place to ride. Much to our surprise the dirt trails where smooth and easy to ride. We took our time and made lots of short breaks...
There are plenty other Mt. Tam GPS tracks on this and other websites, but this is the first one I\'ve seen that goes from Stinson Beach to the summit and back. We started in Stinson, went up the Dipsea trail to Steep Ravine Trail to Pan Toll, then took the RR grade road to West Point. From there, we took the RR grade to Tavern Pump Trail, which cuts over to Fern...
A couple of weeks ago, I was poking around EveryTrail looking for a fun hike. I stumbled across Vaudesir's "Lake Del Valle to Murrieta Fall (Ohlone trail)", and immediately favorited it. A little more digging turned up tommangan's Ohlone Wilderness Trail Guide, who mentions that Murietta Falls only run after "several days of rain". With the Bay Area getting nigh-endless rain for the last week, it seemed like an ideal time to...

I was very happy with my choice of a lightweight, lined
jacket and vest. They weren’t heavy and the material blocked the cold wind on
top of the exposed portions of the ridge better than a plain fleece would have.
Layering like this was definitely the way to go. I shed my vest by noon, and
the jacket by early afternoon.Corrected vertical elevation should be more like 2,400'.

If you want to visit the Point Bonita light house, be sure you come Saturday, Sunday or Monday only between the hours of 12:30 and 15:30. As you can see from my picutre, the metal gate to the tunnel is locked if you miss the time.
