This route is for the "Cannell Plunge", quite simply one of the best if not the best shuttle ride in the Western US. Bold statement I know but it really is amazing. Although its a shuttle ride dont make the mistake of thinking that it is easy or bringing your "big bike", this is a true wildness ride in every sense of the word. I rode it twice on 1 week...
What a must do ride. We took our time in the lovely surroundings and after 3hrs you are still at 7200ft. with a 5000ft 'Plunge' to complete. It was aweosme. The tracks were a mix of flowy stuff, rock gardens, medows and awesome downhill singletrack.

15 Girls and 4 adults set out to find Packsaddle Cave. It
was over 100 deg. and the hike was very steep. I feel it was not properly rated. The hike is 2.5 mi.
to the cave. Some of the girls were quickly running out of water. About half of the girls pushed it 1.5 miles where the adults decided that it was not safe to continue in the heat without adequate water. The...
Very nice camping trip with the Boy Scouts of America.

was over 100 deg. and the hike was a very steep climb. The hike is 2.5 mi.
to the cave. About half of the girls made it 1.5 miles, which in this heat and with
the lack of water was great. The remainder of the group went to a creek that
was 1.8 miles in. We were very close to the cave but due to...
Watch out for people, bears, mountain lions, mosquitos, ticks, rattlesnakes, and lots of poison oak. I always take time to smell the flowers. I always tread lightly and leave no trace. I always suggest showering with a good grease cutting dish soap and cool water after a ride. All skidders suck!!!
Day 1 of 9: Thanksgiving 2009 Desert Road TripFossil Falls is only a short hop off of 395 and has a large nice parking area and BLM campground with basic features. We drove out from the Bay Area late on Friday night and found a campsite in the empty campground around 10 pm. Set up, had a beer, and enjoyed the beautiful starry sky. In the morning we awoke to a lava...
