Russian Ridge is one of the 26 Open Space Preserves in the MidPeninsula Regional Open Space District. http://is.gd/NtE38pThis was a nice hike, steeper than I anticipated on the first half-mile westward from Gate RR04 on Alpine Road. It was fine going down but long and slow on the return when I was tired and it was warmer. Lesson learned-- do a better job of prep. I would have still gone but...
Visited two of the Midpen's Open Space Preserves, car shuttled between the two. Russian Ridge: Parking RR01 along Skyline Blvd - Ridge - Hawk - Ancient Oaks - Unnamed to hilltop meadow - Borel Hill - Ridge back to parking.Skyline Ridge: Parking off Alpine Rd - Alpine Pond - Ipiwa - Sunny Jim - Horseshoe Lake - Fir Knoll - Sunny Jim - Ipiwa - Butano View - Sunny Jim - Ipiwa...
A brief walk with my dog and three-year-old son. This is the first trip I recorded using "My Tracks" app on Android. It started to rain as soon as we got out of the car, so we got back in and had lunch. It cleared up soon thereafter, making for a nice hike. Had to carry the little guy on my shoulders for the trip back uphill.
70ºF weather brought a bunch of people out to Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve on a gorgeous Saturday in February.
Mindego Trail was quiet and vacant. It ends in the middle of an old road at a gate. The only way back is the way you came. The waypoint is a geocache.
Russian Ridge is a Peninsula Open Space Preserve adjacent to Skyline Boulevard. The trail head is in the main parking lot at the intersection of Page Mill Road and Skyline Boulevard. The trail (ridge trail) ascends through open grasslands until splitting about a mile from the trail head. At the split, veer left and continue along Ridge Trail. Upon reaching a bench, take a minute to look towards the southwest (direction of...
Starting at Alpine Road, following the ridge trail, diverting to the Oak Trail, and then Hawk Ridge, and back along the Ridge Trail, we took a little short loop and made a nice day of it!
Russian Ridge is one of the 26 Open Space Preserves in the MidPeninsula Regional Open Space District. http://is.gd/NtE38pThis was a geocaching hike to 'clear' the western side of Russian Ridge. The track log has been modified to remove a leg that would have allowed for a 'brute force' of a geocache puzzle final location. The trip as hiked was 3.53 miles with under 1000' accent/descent. It seemed hotter than the other...
Who would do a hike at 8.30am in the morning when the temperature is at
30°F (below 0°C)? Well, that is what the seven audacious hikers from
Synaptics, Louis, Mihai, Lesley, JR, Mihai, Giri & Narain set out to
do on this chilly day at Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve in Santa
Cruz mountains. It was freezing, but we got warmed in less than an hour.
It was a fairly easy start...
