Hiked out and back. Due to late start didn't complete whole loop. Difficult hike - trail is not marked (except first mile or so) and trail poorly (faint) defined in areas. Also side trails that can be confusing. Very scenic, challenging hike.
Rock Pile Mountain Wilderness holds is a great place to get away from the crowds of SP's, practice your navigation skills and search out some hidden wonders. Be sure your navigation skills are decent, you have a good map and a good GPS and compass as backup.
