Redwood Regional Park is located just a few miles over the ridge from downtown Oakland. It is a hidden redwood forest whose peaceful groves give little evidence
of its bustling past. In the mid-1800s, what is now Redwood Regional
Park was the scene of extensive logging to supply building materials
for the San Francisco Bay Area.Hiking, jogging, and horseback riding are popular activities in this park.

Waterloo Staging Area - Tres Sendas - French - Starflower - Madrone - French - Chown - Stream - Tres Sendas. I cooked up a loop with the most redwood exposure per distance traveled for this park - including the best sections of French & Stream trails. You walk under dense second-growth redwoods almost the entire loop. The forest is too young to develop a full system of moss-lichen covered ecology, and has a...
EBMUD Valle Vista staging area - Redwood trail - East Ridge trail. EBMUD's Redwood trail is a hidden gem. You'll be so tempted to go offtrail and explore...
Hike in Redwood Regional Park with Wilma's group of Tuesday hikers. Started at the Canyon Meadows staging area and went out on the Golden Spike trail which parallels Redwood Rd., then continued up the Montiero trail to the Dunn and Bacharis trails to West Ridge before descending on the Chown and Bridle trails.
Piedmong Stable - Montielo - Baccharis - West Ridge - Chown - French - Fern - West Ridge - Baccharis - Dunn - Golden Spike - back to start. Yet another four-star loop hike in EBRPD's Redwood Park (well, figure 8). Chown - French - Fern section is probably the best part of this hike, but this short loop also covers a wonderous area of the park never mentioned in any guide books. Dunn & Golden Spike...
Stream - Bridle - Stream - Fern - French - Mill - Stream - Chown - French - Orchard - Bridle - Stream. Yet another loop (figure 8) hike in the redwood park. This hike covers Mill and lower Chown trails paired with an easy walk along Bridle trail.
Hike with Wilma's Tuesday hiking group. We started at the Canyon View staging area on Redwood Rd. and climbed the Canyon trail to the East Ridge trail which took us to Skyline Gate. We then returned on the Stream trail.
An outing of Wilma's Wednesday Hikers group, this one led by Flo. The start was rescheduled to the early afternoon and the route altered due to the downpour the previous night and forecast of more showers in the morning. Although sections of the trail were still wet, there was very little mud and it was surprising how much things had already dried up.We started at the Canyon Meadows trailhead on Redwood Rd....
Haig and Annette took the Wednesday hiking group on a very damp romp through Redwood Park, starting at the McDonald Gate and covering the Golden Spike, West Ridge, Bridle, Chown, French, Madrone, Graham, Dunn, and Monteiro trails.
Anand treated the Wednesday hiking group to a hot day hike on a perfectly cool trail through Redwood and Chabot, with a stop for lunch at Redwood Bowl.
