Point Mugu State Park, located in the Santa Monica Mountains, features five miles of ocean shoreline, with rocky bluffs, sandy beaches, sand dunes, rugged hills and uplands, two major river canyons and wide grassy valleys dotted with sycamores, oaks and a few native walnuts. There are more than 70 miles of hiking trails. The beach also features swimming, body surfing and surf fishing. The park includes the jagged pinnacles of the Boney Mountains State Wilderness Area.

The beach is 15 miles south of Oxnard on Highway One.

Sycamore Canyon Campground: Generally accessible campsites are available. Meanwhile, many sites have accessible picnic tables. Other generally level, large sites are at least usable. Restrooms with showers: All campground restroom toilets are generally accessible. Designated accessible shower stalls are usable. Routes of travel: Distances vary but routes to accessible restrooms are generally accessible. Parking: Designated accessible parking adjacent to restrooms.
Thornhill Broome Campground is located at beachfront and is popular for RV use. Tent camping is difficult due to blown sand. One site designated accessible may be usable for RVs. Parking for sites is on road shoulder of paved route with sand, rock and water immediately adjacent. Blown sand may limit access to water and travel through site. Restrooms are portable toilets only. Some are usable.

Sycamore Cove Day-Use Area: There is one generally accessible picnic table in the south lot. There are 3 more accessibly designed tables in the beach picnic area. Route of travel: Some routes may require crossing sand or have blown sand over firm surfaces.

Today was a great day for this hike. We started at 12noon and ended at 5pm. We started off by hiking the Ray Miller Trail which is the most uphill hiking you will do on this hike and great to do in the beginning when you are fresh. Although, it was very foggy off the coast and unfortunate that we didn't get to see the beach below the fog was very pretty to...
Too slippery to descend the Mugu Peak Direct Trail, so descended the trail to the north and circled back to repeat the Direct ascent. With about 50 lbs in the pack this was a great workout.
