Short Backpacking trip to Coast Camp
Community Trips
Fourth of July weekend and the crowds were out. But I immediately veered off to head up Mt. Wittenberg and lost nearly everyone. Only saw the occassional hiker after that. Great July weather -- which is to say foggy -- and perfect for a hike. Point Reyes always offers great sites and a lot of options. In this case I took Mt. Wittenberg to Sky Trail to Coast Trail and back up...
Nice hike with lots of good scenery. I went early in the morning so there was a lot of fog which made it hard to see a lot of stuff...overall a good time. Early there weren\'t a whole lot of people, but later on in the hike heading back to the Bear Valley trailhead there were a ton of people. It was Memorial Day weekend, though. The first couple miles are all uphill,...

A beautiful Saturday out on Point Reyes that ended up in a very long hike. The Elevation profile is totally off at some point. Highest point is Fir top with around 1300ft.From the Bear Valley visitor center hike the beautiful Bear Valley Trail out to Arch rock. Climb down to the waterline to see the arch, but make sure you come back up the same way. Then follow the Coast trail to the first...

If you haven't been to the "summit" of mount wittenberg you aren't really missing much. The summit has trees all over it...but the hike up sky trail is full of great sites. We took the Mount...
This was a short overnight backpacking trip, I had made reservations for the campsite in Glen Backpacking Camp about a month before. We had gotten a late start and didn't actually start hiking until around 1pm after picking up the camping permit at the Bear Valley visitor center. The trail leaving Bear Valley is shaded and flat making for a relaxing walk. Things get a little more interesting the last 1.5 miles as...
