--------------------------------Another 100 degree day in Texas but the trail was pretty shaded for the most part. Probably a much nicer ride in the spring when there has been some rain and the creeks are flowing. Even the falls are just pools right now and there really was no flowing water with our drought. Some pretty rocky areas along the way and some areas where we had to walk but for the most part...
I took a leisurely hike along with trail with my canine companion. We stopped to explore, geocache, and enjoy the scenery. The trail is wide with loose limestone so watch your footing, especially on inclines. Most of the trail is in very good condition, there was one stretch where it was eroded but not a problem for foot traffic. Be sure to stop at Jones Spring for a rest and to listen...
Started cool, but was quite warm by mid afternoon. Most of this hike is along well graded dirt roads. Most of the fauna is juniper / cedar, live oak and a single madrone. Most of the creeks were dry but Jones Spring was trickling. Some good views on the trail up to Wolf Mountain. This hike can easily get to be dessert like.
