Community Trips
We entered the lesser used South entry over the saddle then down across the sand cove to the Wave then exited out the common route at Wirepass.
Limitations on GPS and camera battery life along with limited endurance of author, will require that the lower portion of this trip be posted later. Two "hard spots" are indicated on the trip record by the extra time. There is another hard spot down canyon. On my last visit there was an aging rope ladder for assistance. Hiking in pairs is recommended.
Nice trip through slot canyon to Buckskin Gulch. Made the trip with my kids.
Hard to get to, but worth the effort. This is the alternative for folks (and locals) that don't get the permit for The Wave. Some would argue that this area is more interesting and beautiful than The Wave, but I wouldn't recommend trying to drive out to this area without a 4WD vehicle.
Buckskin Gulch is one of the premier slot canyons that flows into the immensely popular Paria Canyon. Although the tracklog cuts out about halfway down the total hike that we did, the pictures make up for the efficiency of GPS reception :)
Not as famous as it's close cousin, North Coyote Buttes (aka The Wave), the South Coyote region requires a bit more effort to get to, but well worth the visit. This is one of two trailheads we hiked out of today.
