Community Trips
This is a beatiful hike in the Colorado State Forest about an hour and a half drive from Fort Collins up Highway 14 offering stunning views from the eastern side of the Nokhu Crags (Lake Agnes is a shorter hike and sits just to the west of the Crags), abundant wild flowers (the many colors of the Indian Paintbrush are my favorite), and a view into Rocky Mountain National Park from the top of Thunder...
For TJ's 31st birthday, we took a trip up the Poudre Canyon to the Cameron Pass Area. After leaving the Zimmerman Lake Trail to ski The Meadows, we briefly lost the trail markers and went through some deep snow. We quickly re-discovered the trail though and were rewarded with a beautiful trip! We turned around to return back to our vehicle, making it just short of Long Draw Road.
We parked in the parking lot at Cameron Pass and walked across the Hwy 14 to the Michigan Ditch Trailhead. The trail is a relatively easy ski with amazing views along the entire trail. I can't believe I forgot my camera (although I do have pics from this area from a summer hike)! There is some avalanche danger in the bowl after reaching the Lakes and some avalanche risk along the trail...
