This hike incorporates two loop trails through Dutra Ranch and Sky Ranch, part of the lands of the Muir Heritage Land Trust. From Alhambra and Highway 4, take Franklin Canyon Rd west and turn left on Dutra Rd. There is a bit of parking on the left side of the road, just before the END sign. Take this trailhead marked "County Feeder Trail #1" to the entrance of Sky Ranch.
Spent an afternoon in John Muir's backyard, found some geocaches and explored the area.
