Community Trips
A four-day backpacking trip, with one night at Roosevelt Lakes and two nights at Beartrack Lakes. Fished Roosevelt Lakes the afternoon of the first day, catching 17 cutthroat, 10 - 12 inches. On day two, we traversed above the lower Beartrack Lake, then dropped down into the second lake. It receives very little camping/fishing pressure, and though it is only about 200 ft by 300 ft, caught 40 fish in the afternoon...
While a few weeks of advance pestering, I finally convinced my Best Friend to take me on a Fourteener while visiting for his Daughter's Baptism. Now here is the problem....one of the closest 14er in 2 hours away and since you usually want to hit the Trailhead as quickly as possible (aka 6:00am) you do the math. Needless to say we ventured off at 4am to Guanella Pass and start...

As we cracked 3 beers and lit the grill it was hard to believe we even thought about calling off this hike. The forecast was not promising, however, in our opinion it was worth at least an attempt to bag our first 14er of the season. Mother Nature cooperated for as long as we needed her to.
