This trip was from the Yellow Pinch camping ground up the South (Peasant's) Ridge to the saddle (Rum Jungle). We then went from the saddle up the West Peak. After coming down from the West Peak we found a small Camp spot just down form the Creek.
We arrived at the car park around 9am. We expected a short walk of around 90 minutes one way after our disappointing start to Mt Barney. How wrong we were... i quickly took back about doing this little hill twice. First up we hit a ridge that rose steeply up with little tracks. (you’ll see soon why this is so important!!) Steep start to the long walk to flatten out just over the hill to walk to the base of Mt Barney. Mount Barney - 24 Oct 2010Adrian, Greg, Amanda, Craig and I hike Mount Barney. This is a very challenging hike, with unrelenting steeps, rock crawls, scrambles, step ups, mazes of overgrown shrubs etc. You require at least 4 litres of water. Magnficient views back toward Mount Lindesay in the South and sweeping views over farmland. Mount Warning is visible in the vast distance
