The hills have stayed green so long this year we decided to do a hike to the far northern end of Morgan Territory. We started at the bottom of the canyon and climbed up to beautiful views. There are still a lot of wildflowers out.

It had been a long time since I'd been to Morgan Territory, and I wanted to get up there. Today was a glorious day, I had the day off work, so I decided to go. The fire-road trails were a muddy mess, but the Coyote Trail was in great shape near Marsh Creek. The day was beautiful. Temperature at the beginning of the hike was somewhere just about freezing, and a balmy...

This was our second trip to Morgan Territory. We saw 2 coyotes this trip. This is one of our favorite areas. You get some nice views of Mt. Diablo.

This was another East Bay Regional Park District hike. We used the route that prathmann tracked, although his GPS didn't capture the entire route. However we pretty much followed his sequence of trails: Trailhead -> Volvon -> Blue Oak -> Miwok -> Manzanita (there are some great thick manzanitas here and over most of the area) -> Valley View (this one doesn't have much of a valley view, but has a killer hill to climb) -> Volvon Loop -> Prairie Falcon (A nice change from the dirt road. This is a single track that has some really awesome views.) -> Condor -> Trailhead.
We really enjoyed the hike. There were a lot of cows grazing around the trail, but that made it all the more interesting. There's a restroom at the parking area, which is always good. On the way in, along Morgan Territory Road, we saw a coyote from the car and snapped a few pictures before he ran off. Then when were leaving we saw probably the same coyote and he was focused on catching a rodent, so we were able to get some better photos. Then a little further down the road we encountered some wild turkeys crossing the road.
