Excellent weather for a couple of days, blue sky and absolutely no wind: a great day to climb the Dent du Géant. The Dent du Géant is one of the most beautiful peak of the Alps. Perfect for lazy mountaineers as there's a cable-car (Helbronner cable-car form La Palud, Aosta valley, Italy, near Courmayeur) that let you at 3462 meters, a huge part of the way done!Immediately after leaving the cable-car the show...

Aborted walk up Mont Blanc

This was an overnight trip to the Tete Rousse hut from the Nid d'Aigle.  We aborted the summit attempt because of the dangerous conditions - very hot resulting in melting snow and ice and rock falls on the Gouter Couloir.

We wanted to hike up from the Bellevue station to the Nid d'Aigle, then descend along the Bionassay glacier, but the path along the Mont Blanc tramway was closed due to construction work, so we went up to "Les Ruines" instead and didn't regret the hike, nor the grandiose views to Aiguille du Midi etc. We followed the same track for the descent.Nous aurions voulu suivre la trace du tramway du Mont...

"Au coeur de l'Europe", the Mont Blanc and its legendary neighbours - the Grandes Jorasses, the Giant's tooth, the Grand Capucin, The rochefort Bridge - emerges as white diamonds. Small hikes start from Chamonix, Champex, Courmayeur, La Fouly or Ferret. Just breathtaking.
