Popular Trips in McNee Ranch State Park
Trail head opposite Gray Whale Cove has no restrooms. Good sized car park for large groups. Starts off on very steep slope. Exposed trail all the way to North Peak. Had lunch on peak to the west of North Peak. Nice views of the ocean and Pillar Point Harbor. Trail to San Pedro Valley County Park is shady for the most part with picnic table and restrooms at the end. Longer route returning avoided...
Stifling hot and sunny on the way up and then bitterly cold and foggy descent back to the beach. Welcome to the beach in California.
Late afternoon hike up Montara Mountain (but not to summit ... ran out of time before dark). Got up far enough to get some great views above the afternoon clouds/coastal fog.
