From the car park follow the road to Bleatarn House and take the track opposite to ascend to Lingmoor fell. The ascent gives wonderful views of Crinckle Crags and Bowfell. The descent follows the ridge down to Side Pike, giving fine views of the Langdale Pikes. Then the route continues back to your start...
Classic winter sunshine and snow give an alpine quality to this walk. The soft, fresh and occasionally deep snow slowed the pace which meant we didn't travel as fast ... but there's no rush to go anywhere fast with views like this.Full pictures and report @ http://www.loweswatercam.co.uk/091224_Christmas_Eve_on_Hen_Comb.htm

A warm day but the temperature was held back slightly by a cool breeze.Full pictures and report @http://www.loweswatercam.co.uk/100708_Haystacks.htm

These stones have stood for thousands of years stretching back to prehistoric times. There are 38 stones in a circle approximately 30 metres in diameter. Within the ring is a rectangle of a further 10 standing stones. The tallest stone is 2.3 metres high....

The ridge is a wide grassy ridge that follows the line of the old Roman road called High Street which ran between Ambleside and Penrith...
