We meet up with Bill and Sherran in the South Lakes and walk a popular fell but by a route we have never done.Brilliant weather turns a bit cloudy so a warm afternoon cuppa at the Britania was favoured over the more traditional beverage.Full report and pictures @http://www.loweswatercam.co.uk/100309_Lily_&_Loughrigg.htm

Catbells - Maiden Moor - High Spy - Castle Crag Circular
by payneb12 on Mar 21, 2009
Braithwaite, England, United Kingdom
9.0 miles
This is a lovely walk in any weather - but better when clear (it was hazey for me!).The walk included no less than 4 Wainwright Fells - Catbells, Maiden Moor, High Spy and Castle Crag. Each of them with different characteristics, and each of them well worth it. The views into the Newlands Valley and Borrowdale were great. At times it was busy (i.e. 5-6 others nearby), but in places I was completely...

A superb day's walk, one of the best in the Lake District.  I think we would have gone on this route even without the Wainwright Walks being repeated on TV, but I suspect it was responsible for hundreds of others being there!

Steeple from Wild Ennerdale
by Skelwithpad on Sep 05, 2010
Ennerdale, Cumbria, United Kingdom
12.8 miles
Ennerdale is promoted as 'Wild Ennerdale' by the marketeers, being free of vehicles. On this route along the shore path were many people starting their second leg of the coast to coast trek - including Canadians, Australians & Brits raising money for good causes. This approach to Steeple may be considered as 'pure', ie. it doesn't encroach on any other fell to reach the summit. The north ridge route is varied - woodland,...

Glenridding, Cumbria, United Kingdom
7.5 miles
Thursday 9th September 12.5km We started off in Glenriding on the southern most part of Ullswater, parking for an extortionate £7 in the car park.  There is loads of on street parking around, so we wont be making that mistake again.   We set out at 11:30 and started the climb. It was a steep, almost from the start! Mark was slow, but nowhere near as slow as he had been at the start of...
