he Lake District, also known as The Lakes or Lakeland, is a rural area in North West England. A popular holiday destination, it is famous for its lakes and its mountains (or fells), and its associations with the early 19th century poetry and writings of William Wordsworth and the Lake Poets.
The central and most-visited part of the area is contained in the Lake District National Park, one of fourteen National Parks in the United Kingdom. It lies entirely within Cumbria, and is one of England's few mountainous regions. All the land in England higher than three thousand feet above sea level lies within the National Park, including Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England.

Highest mountain in England conquered. Approach through corridor route and descent on the other side to create a small loop. Easy path most of the way.
This is a classic walk from Wasdale Head to Scafell Pike via the Corridor Route, Lamb Foot Dub & Great End, returning via Lingmell.
Another one, off the beaten track this is not for the faint hearted it is a little toughy, it will sort the men from the boys. The destination is Brownrigg Well just to the west of Helvellyn summit. The summit can easily be added into the hike. The start takes you along the forest track and lulls one into a false sense of security. Once you leave the track by the bridge...
A nice leisuerly walk with a little easily attained hieght, With spectacular views in all directions. Blencathra and Skidaw dominate the northern skyline whilst to the west, Catbells, Causey Pike and Grisdale Pike rise above Derwent Water. Don't forget your camera.
A trip to the south west of the Cumbrian Lakes to climb two minor peaks.Despite their size, they are deserving of praise as the walking through undulating countryside and rough crags is of top quality.Full pictures and report @http://www.loweswatercam.co.uk/100313_Stickle_and_Caw.htm
This is a great little walk from the National Trust car park opposite Blea Tarn.

This walk is very popular - although not always via the route we took.Starting at Coniston village we skirted round the base of the 'Old Man' and continued up past Goats Water (with stunning views of Dow Crag), up onto the ridge of Goats Hause, slight detour north until we found the right past back over Brim Fell - and on to the top of Coniston Old Man. The decent was via...
A leisurely walk from Wasdale Head up to Illgill Head then across the sea of grass on to Whin Rigg and descend by Greathall Gill. The final stretch of the walk is along the road that skirts Wast Water.
