So, one day we thought, lets go Canoeing! But, we didn't
have a canoe, so we went to REI, snagged one up and picked out a canoe route in
the Kenai. It didn't look that bad, a couple big lakes, some portages, something
labeled "difficult passage" and an easy float down the Swanson River.
Sounds easy right? Needless to say, the canoe was far from new condition at the
end of the trip and the term "difficult"...
This was my Dad's first snowmobile trip into the Caribou Hills on the Kenai Peninsual, Alaska
This is a round trip loop from the boat lauch on Kasilof River to the public use cabin on caribou Island which is on Tustumena Lake.
Day started out kinda rough. We had one machine in our group that broke down 8 miles in. Towed it back to the Sterling HWY. 3 out of the 5 continued on and went 28 miles back.
